The student and educator of the month program is where we get to meet the honorees and learn about their outstanding backgrounds from faculty and school administrators. In addition our members get to meet their family members that each recipient brought with them.
Each recipient receives a certificate of appreciation for their school and community achievements that truly represent Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self. Two students (one middle and one high school) are selected each month from September through April. Two educators from the Township (one from Middle School and one from High School) are selected for the months of September, November, January and March, and two Elementary School educators – one from Sarah Lindemuth and and one from Thomas Holtzman are selected for the months of October, December, February and April.
Initially our club called the program the Student and Teacher of the Month, but about four years ago the term Teacher was replaced with Educator, as students learn from all paid Susquehanna Township School District personnel.
